On behalf of all of the musicians, technicians and associated persons working for and with La Tromba Music Productions I wish to welcome you to our website!
We are pleased to be able to present to you our ever expanding range of goods and services pertaining to the trumpet and its music.
La Tromba Music Productions is the natural consequence of my life-time of "music making" which, since my first lessons on the "cornet" in January of 1965 has been filled with a sincere love and dedication to music and most especially to music for and with the Trumpet. This 2010/2011 season is especially important for me personally, since it marks my 40th year of professional teaching at a University level!
In 1970, while still living and attending High School in my home city of Regina, Saskatchewan Canada I was privileged to be appointed to a position with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and both the Regina Conservatory of Music and the University of Saskatchewan accepting a Trumpet and Brass Ensemble teaching assignment as the first-assistant to Prof. Dr. Mel Carey, then Head of the Brass Department of the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus. My earliest interests in both teaching and performing, especially with Chamber Ensembles were quickly developed at that time and have continued to this day.
Parallel to my later performance activities as both orchestral Solo-Trumpeter (in the Canadian Chamber Orchestra in Canada (1976/77) and both the German Opera, Düsseldorf (1978/79) and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra (1979/83) in Germany, I have taught in various private and public institutions and given International Masterclasses through out the world, including the USA and Russia. My present full-time tenured teaching position as an "Artist in Residenz" at the Bavarian State Musical University, Würzburg, Germany began in the fall of 1982.
Soon after my arrival in Europe in the Fall of 1978 I have had the great fortune to have been associated with and/or asked to be a founding member and in specisic cases even "artistic leader" of several fine European Chamber Music ensembles. These have included the German Brass Ensemble (1979-1987), the Munich Brass Ensemble (since 1983), the European Baroque Ensemble (since 1987), the German Chamber Soloists- Chamber Orchestra (since 1991) and an ensemble that grew directly out my teaching work at the Würzburg Music Conservatory: The Prince Bishop of Würzburg's Wind Ensemble ("Fürstbischöfliches Bläserensemble zu Würzburg") (since 1999).
In 2003 I was honored to be elected President of the European Trumpet Guilde.
It is through these and various other professional engagements, including those with Symphonic Concert Bands, Show -Bands, Rock Bands, Big-Bands and Jazz Combos, that I have been able to gain a truly wide-range of professional ensemble performance experience. Further engagements as a soloist in recordings of Classical and Rock Opera, Symphonic Film Music as well as numerous international tours with well known musicians from the Jazz, Rock and Symphonic idioms combined with my Research and Development cooperations with internationally known instrument manufacturers in Europe, Japan and the USA has enabled me to ultimately bring to La Tromba Music Productions and consequentially to you, a broad range of goods and services pertaining specifically to the Trumpet and it's varied performance venues.
